POW Watch: Week ending January 31, 2022

Brandt Clarke had himself a monster week.

The Barrie Colts sophomore blueliner captured himself his first Ontario Hockey League Player of the Week honor.

Clarke, selected with the No. 8 pick in the 2021 NHL Draft by the Los Angeles Kings, tallied nine points (two goals, seven assists) in four games over the week ending January 30 to net the award. Clarke registered multi-point games in all four outings and had a plus-8 rating for the Colts.

The 18-year-old Clarke not only leads his team in scoring, but also leads all OHL defensemen with 42 points (eight goals, 34 assists) in 32 games.

He wasn’t the only one to have a monster week.

Logan Stankoven of the Kamloops Blazers netted himself a healthy 13 points (five goals, eight assists) in four games to capture a Western Hockey League Player of the Week nod. Stankoven, who was selected in the second round (No. 43) of the 2021 NHL Draft, has a WHL career-high 56 points (23 goals, 33 assists) in 31 games this season.
