Surin is a skillful and methodical winger with deft hands in tight and a penchant for finding open ice. Once he enters the zone with possession he slows down to create space between the defensive layer and himself, this gives him the time he needs to observe and make a pass. His vision and on-ice awareness are remarkable, allowing him to lead some creative plays by drawing the defense’s attention and finding a teammate, often blind. His quick hands in tight and calm while under pressure demeanor give him an edge in protecting the puck too which adds an additional layer to his playmaking. Defensively, Surin is a pest. He applies physical pressure and is quite attuned to lifting sticks and stealing pucks. Overall, he is a winger with some very interesting potential. His game has a very strong foundation and, if he can add another layer like better skating or a stronger shot, I can see him taking big strides over the course of this season. I expect Surin to get looks in the second or third round of the 2024 draft, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he can sneak into the first.
