The intriguing part of Piercey’s game is that he blends a good shot with physicality, although he is only a slightly above average skater, lacking dynamism in his skating. He isn’t an overly creative player but his willingness to play a supporting role and energy on the forecheck could prove valuable if he can hone his shot a bit more. He has a good shot, with a quick release and the shot is heavy. He uses his big frame to lean on his stick, getting a bit more pop on his shot. He is a bit more of a meat-and-potatoes type of player who works hard, plays smart and is rewarded with some points. He isn’t a play driver, but he does a good job of being a solid passenger. He is a complementary player who understands his strengths offensively. His playmaking is subpar, but he can make simple passes and has no issue moving the puck. He lacks creativity as a playmaker and shouldn’t be relied upon as the primary playmaker on a line. He has decent puck skills and possesses moderate creativity and hands to pull off some one-on-one plays, though this is not a major strength in his game. At times, he can look lost in his own end when he doesn’t have the puck. One of the strengths in his game that makes him a bit more intriguing is his physicality and he isn’t afraid to throw his body around and doesn’t apologize for it. He is a constant thorn in his opponent’s side.
