Guay is a skilled sniper, using his excellent skating and stick-handling abilities to create opportunities to display his scoring prowess. He displays great mobility, showing the ability to stop and start quickly, using his edges for strong lateral agility. He’s a smooth skater and he moves around the ice effortlessly thanks to his excellent agility and fluid stride. Despite his speed, he’s much more dangerous on the cycle than off the rush. He likes to crash the net repeatedly to create high danger chances. He possesses excellent finishing skills near the crease, but his powerful shot allows him to stay a threat from up high. He loves to get to the top of the circle and use traffic in front as a screen. His wrist shot has great velocity and accuracy, forcing goaltenders to make a save every time. He has a pro-level release, showing the ability to deliver the puck briskly and seamlessly thanks to his quick hands. He has creative hands and controls the puck at high pace, opening the play while getting his teammates involved. Even though he looks for shooting opportunities first, he can create plays for others with strong passing skills. He showcases a high compete level without the puck, putting efforts on the forecheck and backcheck to recover loose pucks. He isn’t afraid of physical battles but should add to his already undersized frame. Despite his size, he flashes great potential thanks to his elite goalscoring abilities and offensive skills.
