Pytlik is an excellent skater who boasts great speed, balance and agility. He can leave defenders in his dust with incredible straight away speed and flashes great edge work to lose his coverage. He plays with a good pace and uses his strong frame to stay strong on his edges as he skates with the puck. His smarts are on display each time he touches the puck, weaving in and out of defenders making dangerous passing plays. His passes are crisp, hard and on the tape. He has good vision, identifying where the soft spots are in the offensive zone and attacking them. As he draws defenders in, he makes a pass to the open area where his teammates know to set up. His shot is good but not great, though he locates it well and gets it off quick, but it lacks a heaviness at times. He is a bit of an underrated playmaker, finding linemates who are attacking the net. He likes to get the puck between the circles whether it be with his passing or with his skating. When fully engaged in his own end, he can be a terror by getting into passing lanes with an active stick. He shows good hand-eye coordination knocking the puck out of the air at times. He doesn’t put himself into board battles often, but he does a good job at being the secondary support player, finding pucks in players feet and drawing it out of the pile. Could be more physical.
