A smaller winger who has a ton of speed in his game, Altrichter can get up and down the ice so easily because of his elite level top-end speed. He’s positionally disciplined in both ends of the ice, he knows where to be and doesn’t like to wander out of position. His speed makes him a threat off the rush, he can examine the play and spot the passing lanes. His puck skills do need some work, he has fast hands and can stickhandle well, but his passing and shooting aren’t anything of note at this point in time. With his vision and quickness, you want him to take advantage of the passing lanes but doesn’t do it with enough consistency to be a legitimate playmaking threat right now. He brings an excitement factor but will have to work on his puck skills before he can be a threat on a nightly basis. There will be concerns with his size, he’s a shorter player with an even slighter frame than you would expect to see from a high-energy player. If he can mature physically and polish up his puck skills he could be a great find later in the draft, as long as he’s developed properly he could find his way into the NHL as a bottom-6 scoring threat.
