An excellent puck-moving defenseman, Fensore has great offensive instincts and jumps into action as soon as he sees a scoring opportunity. He owns a tremendous top speed, great acceleration and some incredible edges that help him move up the ice with ease. His transitions are effortless and he gains speed very quickly. He’s very fluid on the ice and moves around the offensive zone at his will. Defensively, he loves to put pressure on the puck carrier. He has excellent back-skating abilities that help him keep with quick attackers and he defends rushes well. He plays the body before the puck. He battles hard for the puck along the boards, but he lacks strength to win all those battles. He’s very intense in his own zone and puts in a lot of effort to defend, but he can be a bit all over the place at times. He’s often caught watching the puck and forgets to cover his man. He possesses a great breakout pass that helps him restart the attack quickly. He often prefers to go for long risky passes to create something offensively than go for the simple play. Thanks to his skating abilities and excellent stretch pass, he creates numerous controlled zone entries. He has a great release and can get the puck on net from pretty much anywhere, but his shot lacks velocity to be very dangerous.
