POW Watch: Week Ending Oct. 25, 2021
Rory Kerins has continued his domination in the Ontario Hockey League.
Kerins amassed 10 points (five goals, five assists) in three games this week to help the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds to a first-place position in the Ontario Hockey League’s West Division.
The Calgary Flames prospect had a four-point performance in a 4-3 overtime win against the Sudbury Wolves on Wednesday. Kerins followed it up with a career-high six points — including his first OHL hat-trick — in an 8-5 win against the North Bay Battalion.
Kerins is tied for first in the OHL with 14 points, and is tied for fourth with six goals.

OHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Rory Kerins (Soo Greyhounds)
Rory Kerins was named Ontario Hockey League Player of the Week after registering an OHL-leading 10 points (five goals, five assists) with a plus-3 rating in three games. Kerins, selected in the sixth round (No. 174) of the 2020 NHL Draft by the Calgary Flames, is currently tied for the OHL lead in scoring with 14 points (eight goals, six assists) in eight games.
OHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK – Jacob Oster (Guelph Storm)
Jacob Oster was named Ontario Hockey League Goaltender of the Week after amassing a 1.50 GAA and .942 save percentage in a pair of wins. Oster, eligible for the 2022 NHL Draft, is 3-1-0-0 with a 2.52 GAA and .906 SV% in four games this season.
WHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jalen Luypen (Edmonton Oil Kings)
Jalen Luypen was named Western Hockey League Player of the Week after amassing seven points (two goals, five assists) in two games for the Edmonton Oil Kings. Luypen, selected in the seventh round (No. 216) of the 2021 NHL Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks, has eight points (three goals, five assists) in eight games this season.
WHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK – Nolan Maier (Saskatoon Blades)
Nolan Maier was named Western Hockey League Goaltender of the Week after recording a 1.50 GAA and .955 SV% in two games for the Saskatoon Blades. Maier, a free agent initially eligible for the 2019 NHL Draft, is 5-1-1 with a 2.65 GAA and .913 SV% in seven games this season.
QMJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Lukas Cormier (Charlottetown Islanders)
Lukas Cormier was named Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Player of the Week after scoring eight points (four goals, four assists) in three wins. Cormier, who led all QMJHL defensemen in scoring in 2020-21 with 54 points (16 goals, 38 assists) in 39 games, was selected in the third round (No. 68) of the 2020 NHL Draft by the Vegas Golden Knights. He was No. 26 in FCHockey’s Final ranking for the 2020 draft.
USHL FORWARD OF THE WEEK – Garrett Wright (Omaha Lancers)
Garrett Wright was named United States Hockey League Forward of the Week after amassing five points (two goals, three assists) in a two-game weekend sweep of the Fargo Force. Wright, an undrafted free agent, has 10 points (four goals, six assist) in eight games this season.
USHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK – Luke Mittelstadt (Madison Capitals)
Luke Mittelstadt was named United States Hockey League Defenseman of the Week after recording five points — all assists — in a two-game sweep of the Muskegon Lumberjacks. Mittelstadt, who went unselected in the 2021 NHL Draft, has nine points (four goals, five assists) in nine games this season. He was No. 231 in FCHockey’s Final ranking for the 2021 draft.
USHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK – Aaron Randazzo (Green Bay Gamblers)
Aaron Randazzo was named United States Hockey League Goaltender of the Week after stopping 31 of 32 shots against the Chicago Steel in a 2-1 overtime win. Randazzo is 3-1-0-0 with a 3.25 GAA and .901 SV% this season.
HOCKEY EAST FORWARD OF THE WEEK – Nick Poisson (Providence)
Nick Poisson was named Hockey East Forward of the Week after recording a hat-trick in addition to an assist — all in the third period — in a 6-5 win against Denver. Poisson, an undrafted sophomore, currently ranks second in Hockey East scoring with 10 points (three goals, seven assists).
HOCKEY EAST DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK – Brehdan Engum (UMass Lowell)
Brehdan Engum was named Hockey East Defenseman of the Week after scoring one goal, blocking five shots and finishing with a plus-1 rating in two games. Engum, a sophomore, has one point in four games this season.
HOCKEY EAST GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK – Devon Levi (Northeastern)
Devon Levi was named Hockey East Goaltender of the Week after making 25 saves to record his third shutout of the season, a 1-0 win against Colorado College on Saturday. Levi, selected in the seventh round (No. 212) of the 2020 NHL Draft by the Florida Panthers, is now tied for eighth all-time on the Huskies shutout leader board after just five career games.
HOCKEY EAST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Ty Gallagher (Boston University)
Ty Gallagher was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week after collecting three points — all assists — in an 8-6 win against Merrimack. Gallagher, selected in the seventh round (No. 217) of the 2021 NHL Draft by the Boston Bruins, was also plus-4 with two blocked shots. He was No. 129 in FCHockey’s Final ranking for the 2021 draft.
NCHC FORWARD OF THE WEEK – Blake Biondi (Minnesota Duluth)
Blake Biondi was named NCHC Forward of the Week after finishing the weekend with three points (two goals, one assist), five shots on goal, and a plus-three rating. Biondi, selected in the fourth round (No. 109) of the 2020 NHL Draft by the Montreal Canadiens, has six points (three goals, three assists) on the season, already surpassing his freshman totals. He was No. 118 in FCHockey’s Final ranking for the 2020 draft.
NCHC DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK – Michael Joyaux (Western Michigan)
Michael Joyaux was named NCHC Defenseman of the Week after collecting four points — all assists — against top-ranked Michigan. Joyaux, an undrafted senior, also had seven blocked shots and four shots on goal. He is tied for the team lead with six assists this season.
NCHC GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK – Dominic Basse (Colorado College)
Dominic Basse was named NCHC Goaltender of the Week after stopping 68 of 72 shots faced for a .944 SV% and 2.04 GAA in weekend games against Boston College and Northeastern. Basse, selected in the sixth round (No. 167) of the 2019 NHL Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks, is 1-3-2 with a .923 SV% and 1.99 GAA this season.
NCHC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Red Savage (Miami)
Red Savage was named NCHC Rookie of the Week after amassing three assists — the first three points of his collegiate career — and a plus-2 rating in two games against Bowling Green. Savage was selected in the fourth round (No. 114) of the 2021 NHL Draft by the Detroit Red Wings. He was No 115 in FCHockey’s Final ranking for the 2021 draft.
ECAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Colton Young (Colgate)
Colton Young was named ECAC Player of the Week after netting five points (three goals, two assists) in a weekend set against Arizona State. He currently leads the ECAC in points (10), goals (6) and is tied for first in the country with three game-winning goals. The undrafted junior had four points (one goal, three assists) in 21 games in 2020-21.
ECAC GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK – Linden Marshall (RPI)
Linden Marshall was named ECAC Goaltender of the Week after stopping 28 of 29 shots in a 2-1 win against Vermont on Saturday. The undrafted senior has a 1.95 GAA and .915 SV% in four appearances this season.
ECAC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Ayrton Martino (Clarkson)
Ayrton Martino was named ECAC Rookie of the Week after recording six assists, including four in a weekend sweep of Alaska Fairbanks. Martino, selected in the third round (No. 73) by the Dallas Stars in the 2021 NHL Draft, sits with six assists through the first five games of his collegiate career. Martino was No. 40 in FCHockey’s Final ranking for the 2021 draft.
CCHA FORWARD OF THE WEEK – Louis Boudon (Lake Superior State)
Louis Boudon was named CCHA Forward of the Week after leading Lake Superior State to a sweep against Union College. Bourdon had five assists in the two-game series. Boudon, an undrafted junior, leads the CCHA in assists (9) and points (12), and is on a personal six-game point streak.
CCHA DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK – Trevor Zins (St. Thomas)
Trevor Zins was named CCHA Defenseman of the Week after recording four points (two goals, two assists) in a pair of games against Ferris State — including three points (one goal, two assists) in St. Thomas’ first ever NCAA Division I win on Saturday.
CCHA GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK – Mattias Sholl (Bemidji State)
Mattias Sholl was named CCHA Goaltender of the Week after earning a pair of victories — including a 35-save performance in a 4-3 win against Northern Michigan, his first collegiate start.
CCHA ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Timo Bakos (Lake Superior State)
Timo Bakos was named CCHA Rookie of the Week after scoring four goals in a pair of wins against Union College, including three goals on Saturday to become the second CCHA skater to record a hat-trick this season. Bakos, an undrafted freshman, is tied for first among CCHA rookie skaters in goals (4).
