Kerins plays a speedy style of game and is one of the faster skaters on the ice at any given time. He likes to skate around the ice, not quite chasing the puck, but also not conforming to normal positioning. His high tempo of play really stands out on offensive zone entries where he can explode through the neutral zone and into the offensive zone with or without the puck, though he could work on making better controlled entries. He is efficient at getting the puck away from traffic, especially in the offensive zone when behind his opponent’s net. In the offensive zone, he tends to find open lanes and will deliver crisp cross ice passes in the high slot. He likes to plant himself in the slot and fire for the net. He boasts a quick release and an accurate shot, and his shoot-from-anywhere mentality creates havoc in front of the net by creating rebounds in the slot. A tad on the small side, though he can utilize his smarts with the puck to maintain control and get the puck to a teammate when in trouble. He needs to work on his game in the defensive zone. He’s essentially invisible on his own side of the center line needs to work on backchecking more consistently.  He rarely gets involved in defensive plays, seemingly waiting for the puck to come to him.  Overall, he is strong offensively but needs to round out his defensive game and work on his tenacity away from the puck.
