Blais a late addition to the 2024 CHL Top Prospects Game

Alexandre Blais of the Rimouski Oceanic is going to get his shot at the CHL Top Prospects Game.

Blais was added to the Canadian Hockey League’s top draft showcase on Tuesday as a replacement to Maximilian Curran of the Tri-City Americans in the Western Hockey League. Curran is unable to play because of injury. As a result, Blais will join Rimouski teammate Spencer Gill on Team White.

The Top Prospects Game is set for Wednesday at the Avenir Centre in Moncton.

Blais, whose addition comes one day after Eriks Mateiko of the Saint John Sea Dogs and Nathan Villeneuve of the Sudbury Wolves had been added to the draft showcase, ranks seventh overall in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in scoring with 56 points (18 goals, 38 assists) in just 43 games.

“I want to see what Blais can bring against the country’s top talent, see if he can flash his lethal driving skills as much against higher competition,” FCHockey Quebec-based regional scout Joey Fortin Boulay said. “He’s the focal point on the Oceanic’s offense, but I need to see if he can contribute without being the main guy on his team.”
