Maenpaa is a solid center that uses his head a lot. He has a fantastic way to find open spaces over the ice to be playable or set up a teammate with speed in the right moment. His skating ability is rather good but he could need more acceleration. He has a very creative way of playing ice-hockey and sets up nice and accurate passes most of his shifts.
