Schmalz possess incredible size and strength for a player of his age. Have watched Schmalz play 6 times over the last two seasons, and this was no doubt his softest game. Didnt have the jump in his step, nor the fire and physicality he usually plays with. Lacks foot-speed, and his edge work is less than impressive, but all these things can be worked on. Hockey sense is there, but feet cant keep up...
