Wisdom’s skating is above average, and he can keep up with the play with a high pace as he is constantly moving his feet, but he isn’t fastest skater. He simply out works his opponents and brings a lot of energy to each shift. He is quite agile and light on his feet at times for a player who has a thick build and is a capable player in transition with the puck on his stick, but it isn’t a strength of his by any means. He’s an effective passer and possesses a good shot but excels from in tight. He scores most of his goals from within the ‘home plate’ area in the offensive zone and he has the frame and physical strength to get there consistently. He plays a power forward’s game, often lowering his shoulder as he leans into the defender, protects the puck and drives the net. He reads the play well and knows where he’s needed on the ice. This also aids his defensive zone play where he can break up passes with nice reads and quick hand eye coordination. He’s committed to the back check and is aggressive on the puck and tough on the puck carrier. He has an active stick, closing off passing lanes and does a good job of laying the body as he uses his stick to separate the puck from the man. While he’s not the biggest player on the ice, he doesn’t shy away from physical contact and often gets into board battles to regain possession.
