A slighter forward who has solid goal-scoring instincts, Miettinen has the ability to release the puck in tight spaces. His IQ and knowledge of the game are evident, he is excellent at supporting his teammates when they have control of the puck. He will never be a play driver but he’s has most of his success when he can work off the puck and get open in the high-danger areas to use his shot. He’s capable of making any pass on the ice but doesn’t use his passing ability often enough to be considered a playmaking threat. Miettinen has a tendency to overthink with the puck, whether it’s trying to make an extra move before making a pass or taking his eyes off the puck while receiving a pass from his teammates, he fumbles the puck a little too often. His skating is also an area that will need to be improved on if he wants to be effective at the professional level. Miettinen has a choppy stride that causes him to slow down when carrying the puck so he struggles with creating separation for himself in transition. He has a lot of tools but he’s a raw player, if he’s able to clean up his game he’s an excellent option for teams in later rounds.
