An athletic goalie, his movements post-to-post are exceptional. While playing a calm and composed game, he shifts around quickly, showing great speed in his pads and on his feet. In fact, he’s scary quick on his skates and moves with fluidity. He shows good poise and maturity in the crease. He can take away angles for shooters. Anticipating well, he’s always ahead of the play, which gives him a chance to be square to the puck and the shooter. He is aggressive defending his crease. He is willing to move out of the blue paint to cut down angles. However, his positioning could use some improvement, though can still put himself in spots that make it difficult for shooters to find gaps in the net. His rebound control is solid, plus he can steer pucks away from dangerous areas. He can push them into the corners or boards as opposed to booting them back into the slot for a scoring chance. He’s got an active stick, relying on an effective poke-check to disrupt the opposition. He’s got good eyes, able to track the puck through screens or during cycles. His glove hand could be stronger. He’s got a good consistency to his game. He can excel in high-tempo situations. A strong performer, with exceptional reading. He leaves his mark with obvious qualities – fluid laterally, quick reflexes with his upper and lower body, great vision and a calm and collected mental game.
