A competitive, hard-working center who brings his best effort on a nightly basis. Johansson battles hard and does not shy away from the corners or the net front areas. He likes to carry the puck and is able to protect the puck by using his body and strength to keep opponents at bay. Using his high-motor and strength he can help out by winning 50-50 battles in the dirty areas and with a slighter frame he has more room to grow and get even stronger as he matures. Joahnsson is effective with the puck on his stick, he has good puck skills and can use his feet to help create time and space for himself or his teammates. His skating is nothing to write home about, he has average speed but helps himself with good edges and a quick first step to help him get up to speed quickly. The defensive zone is his biggest area of weakness, he tends to stand still and has tunnel vision for the puck. This makes him lose his assignment rather easily, but it’s something that he should be able to fix with the right help and mindset. The second half of his season did a lot to help his draft stock and it could’ve been strong enough to get him onto some team’s draft boards.
