An aggressive defender, Schreiber has the poise and confidence on both ends of the puck. He holds the blue line well in the offensive zone and steps up to close the gaps while defending on the rush. He moves really well, using both his feet and his body to manipulate the play when he has control of the puck. Not afraid to get engaged physically, his size and strength allow him to have success in physical puck battles. He played some games in the SHL and despite the limited role he looked comfortable. Against men in the SHL he struggled when pivoting from backwards skating to forwards skating, if his opponents got a step on him out wide and Schreiber had to turn around he usually got beat. He can have success in the defensive zone because of his vision and ability to get his stick into the passing lanes. As a late 2002 birthdate, Schreiber will be older than other first time draft eligibles in this year’s prospect pool but he has shown strong tendencies at 5v5 and on the penalty kill. There could be some questions about his offensive game translating to the next level, but he has shown some flashes as a solid puck mover and has a shot that will be able to challenge goalies at higher levels.
