A well-rounded forward, Farinacci plays a simple but productive 200-foot game. He’s a player that coaches will want on the ice as much as possible in the dying minutes of a one-goal lead. Offensively, Farinacci’s best asset is his shot. He has a quick release and gets good wood on his shot even with a short follow through. This allows him to be especially effective at getting the puck to the net in traffic. He also has the ability to fool goaltenders before they have time to set and react. He’s a very accomplished face-off artist and wins a large majority of his draws. He shows the willingness to go to the tough areas of the ice and while he’s not a huge player, he has a big impact with his physical game. He plays the game the right way and brings as much effort and focus to providing defensive back-pressure as he does when he has a potential breakaway offensively. He combines this effort level with a very mature understanding of his on-ice assignments and the game situation. Scouts have been impressed by the subtle things and intangibles he brings to the game. He has leadership skills as shown by his impressive on-ice demeanour serving as captain for Team USA at the 2018 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alta., last August.
