2021 NHL Draft Mailbag: Power, Robertsson, Wallstedt & More

A smart defender who can adapt his playing style to the partner he’s playing with. If he needs to jump in and join the rush he has the ability and desire to do so. If he’s playing with an offensive-minded defender he can adjust and resort to a more stay at home role. His skating is above average, he has great for-way mobility with the puck on his stick, changing directions while maintaining his stride. Even though he has the ability to adapt his playing style, there is no doubting that he looks more comfortable in an offensive role. He struggles more when he has to be the defensive player, or engage physically because he lacks that top-level strength right now. He has an aggressive mindset which gets him into trouble at times because he pinches at inopportune times and can put his team at a disadvantage. He has a lot of inconsistencies in his game but when you see the skillset that he has and the fact that he’s willing to play multiple roles you see a player that has some NHL upside. The right coaching and a commitment to polishing off his decision making on both sides of the puck can do a lot for his game and career projection.
