A smaller forward, who can make up for his deficiencies with his up tempo and fast paced style. He has good top-end speed and is able to accelerate quickly with or without the puck. He operates well in space, with good puckhandling and lateral movement he can evade opponents through the neutral zone. Mamaladze has a nose for the puck, his effort never waivers on the backcheck. He uses his speed and tenacity to negate opposing team’s transition attack and limit chances when he’s on the ice. As a slighter player he lacks strength, often relying on his quickness to try and mitigate his struggles in close quarters. He’s the type of player that only knows one speed, and that will cause some concerns as he plays against higher level opponents who can limit his quickness on the ice. His vision needs some work, when he focuses in on a teammate he has the ability to find him but he tends to have tunnel vision with the puck only focusing on his primary target. As a project in the bottom end of the draft, teams could do a lot worse than Mamaladze, his quickness and puck skills have the potential to grown and with the right development plan he could blossom into something for whoever grabs him.
