A powerful winger with a big frame, Buhr can be a handful in the offensive zone because he’s difficult to knock off the puck. With control of the puck, he uses his size to his advantage by using his lower body to help shield the puck from opposing forecheckers. His production in the BCHL was strong last season, Buhr shows flashes of offensive skill but still has room to grow and be even more effective offensively. His skating is an area of concern because of the lack of top-end speed and a tendency to get caught flat footed on the ice. He can become disengaged defensively or if the puck isn’t on his stick, sometimes waiting for the puck to come to him rather than taking the onus on himself to go and get it for his team. For a player with his stature and strength Buhr needs to assert himself more in the physical game, whether it be on offense or defense. He needs to develop and edge to his game in order to take it to the next level, with his frame he could be a nightmare to play against, but he needs to develop the mentality of a true power forward. He’s an interesting name to watch and if he rounds out his game he could be a solid pick late in the draft.
