Edvinsson, Lysell headline Sweden’s U18 entry

Sundin makes most of his ice time by playing with a lot of speed and frenzy. He has great fluidity on the ice and out-skates most opponents, at both short and long distances. Doesn’t stand still very often. Wins most races deep into the offensive zone after a dump from his teammates. He is a physical forward with great strength, despite not being the biggest of players. He throws himself headfirst into the offensive zone and will go straight to the net to get his hands on rebounds. Mans the net-front on the power play and will fight for his space there. Wins battles along the boards and in other dirty areas. Has that chip on his shoulder that you always love to see. Shows a great working ethic by committing himself when backchecking and working hard with his stick to win loose pucks in all three zones. Will throw his body around to disrupt opponents when the situation calls for it. Enemies get very little time and space to be creative when he is on the ice, and he gets a lot of time on the penalty kill as a result of his intense, in-your-face style of play. He sets himself up in good positions most of the time and has decent awareness of what is happening on the ice. Isn’t afraid of handling the puck even though he’s not the most skilled at doing so, and unforced errors and turnovers can be an issue. When he is in the offensive zone he is meticulous, twisting and turning to find opportunities, but doesn’t get much out of those moments when it comes to the score sheet. When he doesn’t succeed offensively you can always count on him to work hard, completing hits and making it difficult for opponents out there. Sundin could become a useful member of a team as a hard-working support player, though there isn’t much upside beyond that.
