A big-sized defender, Vlasic displays good puck management in tight. A smooth skater, he has great vision as well as a decent hockey IQ. He plays a sound defensive game and has the size and ability to initiate quick attacks. However, he is more of a stay-at-home defenceman. Due to his size, he possesses a long reach which he uses effectively to interrupt plays. Showing decent mobility, he’s good at completing long outlet passes through the neutral zone to his teammates. Those passes arrive right on the tape and with good power. He’s also able to make great plays when being pressured by opposing forwards while creating scoring chances with little space and time. Consistently making the right decisions with the puck, he’s very aware of his environment and knows where his teammates are situated. He smartly controls the pace of play with the speed of his skating and how he utilizes his intelligent passing to creatively get the puck to the front of the net. He also looks good running the blue line on the power play, using decent vision and good passing to create plays. He routinely uses the end boards as a way to create rebound scenarios in the slot and also isn’t afraid to get the puck on net. He needs to work on his shot as there isn’t much velocity or accuracy to it from the blue line.
