Sjoberg is a winger that plays with a lot of energy on the ice, combined with some skill. He competes very hard and plays a fearless game. He is not afraid to get in to dirty areas, doesn’t hesitate when blocking shots, and he is quite effective with his stick. He has a decent frame, and even if he is not the largest player on the ice, he is quite strong. He uses his body and strength to both protect the puck and bump others off of it. He throws himself into situations along the boards to try to get his hands on loose pucks or capture it from his opponents. He wins battles and handles the physical aspect decently enough, and he will be harder to face as he develops and adds more muscle mass. He has good acceleration and manages to keep high speed over longer distances, both with and without the puck, though his four-way mobility is average. But at the same time, he has a more direct than evasive playing style, so he doesn’t really need to be overly agile. His backchecking and forechecking are really good, and he succeeds keeping the puck in the offensive zone to kill time when his team is shorthanded. He has good positioning and uses shoulder checks to know what is happening around him. He gets into the right places and has the awareness to identify when to cover for his teammates if necessary. He has a decent wrist shot, not the hardest, but good accuracy, though he needs to be straighter in his game and shoot more. Can make some nice short passes from behind the net that create scoring opportunities. One aspect that he needs to work on is his decision-making, especially when to try something creative or when to just make the simple play that is available. He finds teammates with simple passes, but tends to rush the puck when getting pressured.
