A versatile player who can be effective as both a winger and center. Stakkestad has quick bursts of speed that allow him to take advantage of short-distance situations. If he wants to truly be an effective skater he will want to add more power behind his strides so he can maintain his top speed for longer distances. He’s a good passer and willing to put his body on the line to make a play, if he has opponents bearing down on him he remains calm and makes the correct play even if it means taking some physical punishment. His effort level waivers from time to time, getting caught flatfooted or stationary making him easy to exploit when the opponents are starting their rush attack. He has good size, a shorter player with a heavier frame allows him to have some success in tight-quarters or 50/50 puck battles. He’s a disciplined player who has some positives but there are areas of concern that will need improvement before being sure about his potential at the next level. He’s the type of player who has a lower ceiling but a higher floor, he may never turn into a regular contributor but he some tools that could make him worth a late-round shot.
