Zadina named to Czech preliminary roster

Forward Filip Zadina, eligible for the 2018 NHL Draft, was among the 27 named to the Czech Republic’s preliminary roster for the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship.

The tournament will be held from Dec. 26, 2017 – Jan. 5, 2018, in Buffalo, New York.

Zadina, fifth in Future Considerations’ Fall ranking for the 2018 draft, is second in scoring as a rookie in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with 43 points (22 goals, 21 assists). He’s previously represented the Czech Republic at the 2017 IIHF World Under-18 Championship, recording three goals and three assists in five games. He also had seven points (five goals, two assists) at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial tournament in 2016.

Goaltender Jakub Skarek, ranked 45th, defenseman Martin Kaut, 56th, and forward Jakub Lauko, 41st, was also named to the roster.
