Rossi recognized as Eddie Powers recipient

Marco Rossi of the Ottawa 67’s was recognized as the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy recipient as the OHL’s top scorer Thursday.

Rossi, No. 8 in FC Hockey’s Spring ranking for the 2020 NHL Draft, finished first in Canadian Hockey League scoring with 120 points (39 goals, 81 assists) and a plus-69 rating in 53 games played. His 2.14 points-per-game pace is the highest by an OHL scoring championship since Patrick Kane (2.50) in 2006-07 with the London Knights.

“Rossi’s name is going to be called early on draft day and rightly so,” FCHockey’s head Eastern scout Dylan Galloway said. “He was a star in the OHL this season proving not only to be a prolific offensive talent but also one of the most well rounded players in the entire league. His commitment to the fundamentals of the game while providing highlight reel worthy goals and plays is truly exceptional.”

The 18-year-old is the first Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy recipient of European descent since Stan Mikita of the St. Catharines Teepees in 1958-59.
