The odds for the 2022 NHL Draft Lottery are now set

The odds are now locked in. Next up, the draw.

The Montreal Canadiens, who played in the Stanley Cup Final just a year ago, lead all clubs heading into the 2022 NHL Draft Lottery to determine who will select with the top two picks at the 2022 NHL Draft.

The Canadiens have an 18.5% chance of selecting first at the 2022 draft, held, fittingly enough, at the Bell Centre in Montreal. The Canadiens finished last in the NHL after collecting just 55 points by way of a 22-win season.

The Arizona Coyotes, second with 57 points, enter the lottery with the second-best odds at 13.5%. The expansion Seattle Kraken, at 11.5%, have the third-best chance of winning after they struggled to a 27-48-6 mark.

The 2022 NHL Draft Lottery is set for Tuesday, May 10. It will feature all 16 teams that failed to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

It will be held under new rules established last season.

The team winning the lottery will be allowed to jump a maximum of 10 spots, meaning only the teams holding the top 11 positions heading into the lottery will be eligible to select with the No. 1 pick. The number of lottery picks has also been lowered from three to two.

As well, teams will be limited to no more than two lottery wins in a five-year period.

Shane Wright, No. 1 in FCHockey’s Spring ranking for the 2022 draft, has 94 points (32 goals, 62 assists) in 63 games for the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League this season. He’s topped each and every ranking at FCHockey all season long. Logan Cooley of the US National Team Development Program is ranked No. 2, and HK Nitra defenseman Simon Nemec is No. 3. Juraj Slafkovsky of TPS is No. 4, and Matthew Savoie of the Winnipeg ICE is ranked No. 5.
