Macklin Celebrini named a top-10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award
Macklin Celebrini is now looking for his next hat trick.
Celebrini, who was named Hockey East Rookie and Player of the Year earlier Wednesday, was named a top-10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award as college hockey’s top male player.
The 17-year-old freshman, the consensus top pick for the 2024 NHL Draft, was originally among the 84 players nominated for the Hobey Baker in late January. He will now compete with nine others, including San Jose Sharks prospect Will Smith and Montreal Canadiens draft pick Lane Hutson, to be among the three finalists for the Hobey.
The three finalists, the Hobey Hat Trick, are revealed on April 4, and the Hobey Baker Award winner will be announced on Friday, April 12, 2024 during the NCAA Men’s Frozen Four.
Celebrini is the youngest player in college hockey this season. He sits third overall in the nation in scoring with 55 points (30 goals, 25 assists) in just 33 games. He is second overall in goals (30), is third in points (55) and shots (158), and fourth in power-play goals (11).
