Lemieux named QMJHL Player of the Week

Jonathan Lemieux of the Val d’Or Foreurs was named QMJHL Player of the Week on Monday.

Lemieux, eligible for the 2019 NHL Draft, went 1-0-0-1 with a 1.44 goals against average and .963 save percentage in a pair of starts last week.

The 17-year-old made 40 saves, including 16 in the third period, to help Val d’Or rally to earn a point against the Charlottetown Islanders on Wednesday. Lemieux was named the game’s first star. Lemieux again was named first star against the Rimouski Oceanic on Friday after making 37 saves to rally for his 17th win of the season.

Lemieux, selected with the No. 42 pick in the 2017 QMJHL Entry Draft, is 17-16-1-2 with a 3.68 goals against average and .902 save percentage this season.

He was also named a Scholastic Player of the Month in the QMJHL in December.
