Kurashev named to Swiss preliminary roster

Forward Philipp Kurashev, a potential first round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, has been named to Switzerland’s preliminary roster for the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship.

The tournament will be held from Dec. 26, 2017 – Jan. 5, 2018, in Buffalo, New York.

Kurashev, 30th in Future Considerations’ Fall ranking for the 2018 NHL Draft, has eight goals and 30 points in 32 games with the Quebec Remparts this season. He’s previously represented Switzerland twice at the IIHF World Under-18 Championship, the World Junior A Challenge, and the Ivan Hlinka Memorial tournament.

Nando Eggenberger, ranked 40th, was also named to the preliminary list. Eggenberger has four points (two goals, two assists) in 23 games with Davos this season and has previously represented Switzerland at the 2017 World Juniors, World Under-18 Championship, World Junior A Challenge and twice at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial.
