Johnson named to Team USA’s WJAC roster

Ryan Johnson of the Sioux Falls Stampede is among 10 eligibles for the 2019 NHL Draft to represent Team USA at the 2018 World Junior A Challenge in December.

The World Junior A Challenge from Dec. 9-16 in Bonnyville, AB.

Johnson, 48th in Future Considerations’ Fall ranking for the 2019 draft, has seven points (one goal, six assists) in 13 games this season with Sioux Falls.

Bobby Brink (Sioux City Muskateers), ranked 75th, Shane Pinto (Lincoln Stars), 76th and Robert Mastrosimone (Cedar Rapids Roughriders), 86th were also invited, as were Grant Silianoff of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, Trevor Janicke of the Central Illinois Flying Aces, Josh Nodler of the Fargo Force, Ethan Frisch of the Green Bay Gamblers, Zac Jones (Tri-City Storm) and Isaiah Saville (Tri-City Storm).

The United States is competing for the 12th time in the 13-year World Junior A Challenge. They will play opposite Canada East, Canada West, Russia and the Czech Republic.
