Jarvis nets WHL’s most sportsmanlike nod

Seth Jarvis of the Portland Winterhawks was named recipient of the Brad Hornung Trophy as the Western Hockey League’s most sportsmanlike player, the league announced Thursday.

Jarvis, No. 16 in FC Hockey’s Spring ranking for the 2020 NHL Draft, was second in WHL scoring with 98 points (42 goals, 56 assists) and accrued just 24 minutes in penalties in 58 games played. The 18-year-old, who posted career-bests in goals, assists and points, was named to the WHL’s Western Conference First All-Star Team.

“Jarvis flourished as a focal player and grew his game in almost every aspect, showing a consistency every time he hit the ice which allowed him to be a constant threat which transpired to success,” FC Hockey’s head Western scout Justin Froese said.

Jarvis had 29 points (11 goals, 18 assists) in a 10-game point streak in January, and 27 points (14 goals, 13 assists) in an 11-game point streak in February.
