Hagens headlines Team USA selection camp for World Juniors

James Hagens, a top prospect for the 2025 NHL Draft, was among the 28 players that will take part in USA Hockey’s final evaluation camp for the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship.

The camp will be held Dec. 16-17 in Plymouth, MI.

Hagens, No. 1 in FCHockey’s Preliminary ranking for the 2025 draft, has 17 points (three goals, 14 assists) in 13 games as a freshman at Boston College this season. He led the US National Team Development Program’s under-18 team with 102 points (39 goals, 63 assists) last season — the eighth-most productive campaign in the NTDP’s history and fourth-best by a player still one season from his draft year.

He also had 22 points (nine goals, 13 assists) in seven games at the 2024 IIHF World Under-18 Championship, breaking the U18 scoring record set in 2011 by Nikita Kucherov.

Hagens is joined in camp by fellow draft-eligibles Logan Hensler and Blake Fiddler — both defensemen.

Hensler, ranked No. 9, has five points — all assists — for the NTDP this season.

Fiddler, ranked No. 42, was a member of Team USA’s entry at the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and has 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 24 games with Edmonton in the Western Hockey League.
