Bump named 2022 USA Today Hockey Player of the Year

Alex Bump has been named the 2022 USA Today Hockey Player of the Year.

The award for high school players in the United States.

Bump, from Prior Lake, registered 83 points (48 goals, 35 assists) in 31 games for Prior Lake High. He captained the team to the 2022 state tournament for the first time in the school’s history. 

The 18-year-old, selected in the fifth round (No. 133) of the 2022 NHL Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers, also had 17 points (11 goals, six assists) in 27 games with the Omaha Lancers in the United States Hockey League. 

He is committed to the University of Vermont for the 2023-24 season.
