Brisson, Miller named All-USHL First Team

Brendan Brisson and Mitchell Miller, each eligible for the 2020 NHL Draft, were named to the All-USHL First Team, the league announced Thursday.

Brisson, No. 79 in Future Considerations’ Spring ranking for the 2020 draft, led all rookies and finished second in league scoring with 59 points (24 goals, 35 assists) in 45 games with the Chicago Steel. Miller tied for third in defensive scoring, putting up 33 points (eight goals, 25 assists) in 44 games for the Tri-City Storm.

Riese Gaber was also named to the First Team. The 20-year-old was eighth in league scoring with 55 points (34 goals, 21 assists) in 47 games with the Dubuque Fighting Saints. He is also eligible for the 2020 draft.

The All-USHL Second Team includes Green Bay Gamblers’ Mason Lohrei, Chicago Steel’s Mathieu De St. Phalle, Youngstown Phantoms’ Trevor Kuntar, and Fighting Saints’ Dylan Jackson.

De St. Phalle, 20, led the entire league in points, with 60 (30 goals, 30 assists) in 49 games. He was one of five Steel players that were in the top-seven scorers in the league. Lohrei, 19, was second in defensive points with 37 (eight goals, 29 assists) in 48 games. Kuntar, 18, put up 53 points (28 goals, 25 assists) in 44 games in his third season in the USHL, while Jackson, 18, just edged him out with 55 points in 48 games.

The All-USHL Third Team includes forwards Danil Gushchin of the Muskegon Lumberjacks and Sam Strange of Sioux Falls.
Gushchin, No. 51 in Future Considerations’ Spring ranking, put up 47 points (22 goals, 25 assists) in 42 games in his second season in North America after coming over from Russia. Stange split the season with the Stampede and the Sioux City Musketeers, putting up 45 points (26 goals, 19 assists) in 48 games.
