Bolduc named Michel-Bergeron Trophy recipient

Zachary Bolduc of the Rimouski Oceanic has been named the recipient of the Michel-Bergeron Trophy as Offensive Rookie of the Year, the QMJHL announced Thursday.

Bolduc is a top prospect for the 2021 NHL Draft.

The 17-year-old, selected with the No. 14 pick in the 2019 QMJHL Entry Draft, had 52 points (30 goals, 22 assists) in 55 games with Rimouski after starting the season with the Sioux City Musketeers of the United States Hockey League.

“Bolduc is a skilled and dangerous goalscorer who excels at both finishing plays in dangerous areas and creating scoring chances with his speed and stickhandling abilities,” Quebec-based FCHockey scout Andy Lehoux said. “His quick puck delivery and top-notch accuracy make him a deadly shooter from all-around the ice, and arguably the biggest scoring threat among QMJHL rookies. Alongside Alexis Lafrenière, Bolduc has been deadly on Rimouski’s power play this year.”

Bolduc also had five points (two goals, three assists) with Canada Red at the World Under-17 Challenge.
