NHL releases Central Scouting Draft Combine fitness results

Even off the ice Connor Bedard continues to impress.

Bedard was among  the top performers at the 2023 NHL Scouting Combine earlier this week, held at LECOM HarborCenter in Buffalo, NY. In all, 100 players were put through the paces at the combine to measure their stamina, vertical jump, strength, and a handful of other tests.

Joining Bedard among the performers were Samuel Honzek, Cameron Allen, Easton Cowan, and Nick Lardis, all of whom registered top-five finishes over several different categories.

Scouts and general managers may view the combine how they please, but it’s a way to measure particular attributes unseen on the ice. When investing time and money into these prospects, the organization wants to consider every possible factor, including the double-edged sword of who might be maxed out in terms of physical development and who still has considerable room to grow.
