Bolduc to miss 6-8 weeks with lower-body injury
Zachary Bolduc of the Rimouski Oceanic will miss a minimum of 6-to-8 weeks because of a lower-body injury, the club announced Monday.
Bolduc, No. 13 in FCHockey’s Winter ranking for the 2021 NHL Draft, will be subject to weekly re-evaluations by a medical team led by Dr. Tina-Louise Gendron. The 18-year-old has 29 points (10 goals, 19 assists) in 27 games with the Oceanic this season.
“It’s incredibly unfortunate and disappointing for Bolduc,” FCHockey regional scout Andy Lehoux said. “He already had to miss games earlier this season due to injuries, and it seems luck still isn’t on his side. Bolduc has flashed amazing potential on the ice, but his multiple absences has given him trouble finding his rhythm and consistency. Hopefully he can recover quickly and continue showcasing his high-end talent.”
The 18-year-old had 52 points (30 goals, 22 assists) in 55 games in 2019-20, and was named QMJHL Rookie of the Year and the recipient of the Michel Bergeron Trophy as QMJHL Offensive Rookie of the Year. He was also named to the league’s all-rookie team.
Bolduc is the top-ranked skater from the QMJHL for the 2021 draft.
