Eklund named SHL rookie of the year

William Eklund, a top prospect for the 2021 NHL Draft, has been named rookie of the year in the SHL, the league announced Tuesday.

Eklund had 23 points (11 goals, 12 assists) in 40 games with Djurgardens IF this season. His 11 goals led junior-aged players in scoring.

“His season has been so impressive and he is one of the most NHL-ready players I have seen the last years.”

Eklund is ranked third in FCHockey’s Spring ranking for the 2021 draft,
