With his playing career cut short due to a hip injury at 15, Bell still wanted to remain in the game. He looked to get into covering the sport through journalism, writing for The Hockey Writers covering the NHL Draft and prospects before joining FCHockey at the end of the 2019-20 season. With an attraction to analyzing players and the game of hockey, starting in the 2020-21 season Bell’s role evolved into an Eastern Canada and Crossover Scout with a focus on the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) while still providing video scouting for prospects across the globe.
