With his slick edges and great agility, Simoneau is fluid on his skates, making him a dynamic playmaker. He is super dynamic with the puck, as he possesses some great puck skills, good agility and some quick turns. He owns a decent acceleration that comes in handy when battling for loose pucks, but his top speed is below average. He possesses both elite vision and passing skills with perfect passes in the offensive zone. He’s creative with the puck and will tend to set up a teammate before shooting the puck himself. He has a great hockey IQ as he positions himself well in all three zones, reads plays better than almost anybody and makes excellent decisions quickly with the puck. Despite his small stature, he shows good intensity on the forecheck and backcheck. He’s never afraid of any physical challenge and loves to go out of his way to throw a big hit. While he lacks a bit of strength, his competitiveness mostly compensates for it. He has a high compete level as he is always the first to put pressure on the puck carrier and jump into any board battle. With his active stick and good intensity, he gives a tough time to his opponents trying to control the puck. He’s responsible defensively and loves to get down low to cover an open opponent or help his teammates in a board battle.
