Guenther, Clarke among eligibles named to Canada’s U18 entry

A strong, dependable gatekeeper between the pipes that usually play with confidence. Plays a tidy, technical game. Is self-aware and conscious when it comes to the position. Compensates for his size with quickness and aggressive positioning. Rarely locks onto an angle as he’s shifty and efficient on his feet. Shows strong lower body agility and able to move his feet to adapt and give lower percentage looks at the net. Dynamic speed moving laterally and remains poised. Puts just the proper amount of pad on puck. Will stop up to square and line up a shot to limit secondary opportunities. Although a little bit scrambly, that is due to his battle for position, which he always seems to be mindful of. Butterfly goaltender that does get caught out of position and winds up making unorthodox saves. Smart when using his hands to make saves. In tune with where the pucks are. Can eliminate passing lanes subtly as opposed to fanfare. Willing to help his defensemen out. Communicates on a regular basis with his troupe. Helpful with a lot of confidence and authority. Active with his glove hand, not just for saves, but attempting to block passes in front and rotating them. Stands tall on his feet and uses a good puck tracking strategy to stay afloat. A very mobile goaltender. Shuts the door on tap-ins, backdoor shots and wraparound plays.
