Bell Curve: 2022 World Juniors predictions

Knazko plays a pretty simple, monotone style of game. A decent game manager who is foundationally structured in his skating but lacks a fleet step, showing some urgency in his skating but not the ability to set pace or do more than sustain a gap. He has strong defensive awareness, especially protecting against the rush, driving wide, using his reach and limiting interior pass options and fluidly following up to keep play to the wall. He can grow a bit complacent waiting for opponents to come to him versus showing proactive techniques, which can put the pressure of a body or hectic play on top of him, but he seems to prefer staying to the defensive side of his man. A quick active stick and his mind are his best abilities in his own zone. He does play with a bit of tenacity but isn’t an overly imposing match up whether he is defending or battling for a puck on the wall. He will make the occasional gamble and follow up play on the rush, but as a primary threat, he doesn’t put opponents on their heels consistently. Offensively, his stick work is decent, showing some smooth and structured passing ability, using quick hands to find his teammates after showing patience to open lanes. He can grip and rip shots on net but seems to be more of a passer. He doesn’t excel in any one area but has a simple all-around game he can build on.
