Francis is a skilled offensive forward who excels at creating opportunities for his teammates thanks to his great vision and passing abilities. Although he possesses a subpar top speed, he is an incredibly agile and effortless skater who can move the play in transition with ease. He displays great elusiveness through the neutral zone to bait defenders and finds skating lanes comfortably. He has solid edges and transitions well from backwards to forwards, also showing off tremendous talent when making lateral movements. He opens the play skillfully in transition, utilizing his teammates to create offensive opportunities. A very generous playmaker who rarely holds the puck for too long. He shows the ability to make great no-look passes and tremendous puck-handling abilities on the attack, creating time and space offensively with smooth and swift dekes. His hands are very soft and fluid, which helps him adapt and dodge pokechecks effortlessly. His decision-making his above average and his positioning is excellent as most of his goals come from him finishing plays and jumping on rebounds quickly. He owns a slick release, but his shot is nothing special, lacking in power but it’s accurate enough to be a threat from up close. He is an inconsistent defender who at times lacks interest in defending. He’s not scared to get involved physically and throw his body around to recover pucks, but his strength is far from impressive. He gets pushed a bit too easily along the boards.
