FCHockey releases Preliminary ranking for 2021 NHL Draft

An effective defensive defenseman that uses his body to throw opponents off the puck. A very competent skater who sticks to the basics when filling his role. Large and has a commanding presence, which throws opponents off. Able to accelerate well with quick strides and is able to control his skating well with strong edges. Skates with his head up and with enough hip bend to get the most out of his stride. Consistently able to find open teammates in the neutral zone and is able to make bank passes off the boards, stymieing defenders in the process. Effective at assessing the risks of moving the puck into traffic. Tracks the play really well and is able to control the gaps. Knows when to use the body or pin an opponent to take the puck away. But by no means is he a bruiser or enforcer for his size. Has a quick release, which shows itself when he has an opportunity to shoot on net. It’s not often he shoots though, but he has solid power. A little inconsistent when working under pressure. Slow and uncoordinated at receiving pucks. Not the most efficient backchecker. Sometimes obstructs the view of his own goalie. Most concerns regarding his lack of coordination stem from him growing into his larger frame, which should improve as he fills out.
