Orr never takes his foot off the gas, showing extremely high competitiveness and hunger for the puck at all times. He’s an aggressive forechecker, an in-your-face player with the skill to back it up. The poise he shows on every shift is very mature, despite being a younger player in this draft class. He stays calm under pressure, not forcing or rushing the puck. Orr is a center that plays with a lot of speed. He is a very good skater, with good speed and agility, and that helps him in his forechecking and backchecking game. In both these aspects of his play, he uses his skating, his stick, and his body, to takeaway a large number of pucks. His transition play is also very good, as he uses his skating, agility, passing, and stickhandling ability to exit his zone, and enter the offensive zone with ease. Orr shows that he has some very good hands that can follow the speed of his feet. He can keep the puck on his stick a bit too long though, and he can make some questionable decisions at times when he has possession that leads to turnovers, or that stopped potential scoring chances from happening. He does play with confidence, and can show some decent creativity with the puck. He can move the puck around very well in the offensive zone with some nice passes. He just needs to choose his moments better and work on his decision making with the puck. Another aspect that Orr could work on is his overall scoring ability. He does have a good shot when given time and space, but he needs to release it more quickly and find some more power in order to have scoring success at the next level. Sticking with his shooting ability, he can take some weak backhand shots and he often misses chances to attack the net with his forehand. Having said that, Orr impresses with how he attacks the slot and how he’s able to get open and get his scoring chances. Once he’s able to take his scoring ability to the next level, he could be an impressive goal-scorer. In his zone, Orr needs to work on his positioning, as he’s not always in the correct place, but he shows potential in how he approaches forwards with his body and stick.
