In the offensive zone, Chromiak is a threat all over the ice. His skating is a strength as he can pull away from defenders in space and does a good job of being able to stop-and-start while changing speeds to help create space for himself and his teammates. Often drawing the attention of the opponent, he is patient with the puck. That said, his stride length and his footwork in transitioning isn’t exceptional. Pace of play and ability to be a focal player is questionable, though while his stride and feet aren’t explosive, he has slick hands and an underrated top speed he uses to sneak past opponents with a quick deke. He is a strong passer with excellent hockey IQ, which helps him identify where the puck needs to go next. He has a very good shot that jumps off the blade of his stick with heaviness and he will shoot from tough angles on the ice. He is creative and isn’t afraid to take a hit to make a play, attacking with haste and not shying away from physicality. While he can be an offensive threat, he sometimes lacks a dynamic element to all areas of his game by not putting out a consistent effort as he sometimes gets caught waiting for the puck. Defensively, he looks lost at times, unable to find his positioning and his effort doesn’t stand out in his own end.  Overall, he has some good tools but needs to refine his game and effort.
