Who To Watch at the 2019 WJAC

A smart two-way defender with smooth skating skills and while he is not the fastest on the ice, Reid is able to carry the puck through traffic with little stress or problems. Could improve his stride and speed at the next level. He consistently deploys good pressure along the boards and has quality gap control when defending. He loves to sit near his crease and will block shots to eliminate scoring chances. Always in a good position to defend, though at times he can get lost in heavy traffic.  While he is willing to get into puck battles along the boards and in front of his net, he tends to get pushed around due to his size. Size and strength can come along as he matures and builds muscles. He is also efficient at getting the puck out of his own zone supports his teammates well. He can move the puck and make plays at both ends of the ice as a confident puck handler who plays with a level of calmness. He shows an ability to think the game at a high level, often making plays on the back end which starts offensive drives for his team. In the offensive zone, he does not have a booming shot and will often elect to complete crisp cross ice passes instead. Overall, he plays a solid game even if he doesn’t stand out in any one area and he could be a raw project a team might take a chance on.
