His skating ability is effortless and his ability to pick up speed and rely on his edges to shift laterally allows him to control the flow of play and separate from opponents in dynamic fashion. He doesn’t have a big frame to protect the puck, but combined with his patience, poise and elusiveness, he is so hard to pin down and his skill with the puck is a highly underrated attribute. He’s a player who is very good in the details aspects of the game, is among the best skaters and most skilled but simply doesn’t get the results one would expect.  What he lacks in size he makes up for with poise and IQ. He has high end offensive awareness and can squirm out of any bind to resurrect plays and has a high panic threshold, which is on display anytime he draws opponents into him so he can land the puck on his teammates stick as soon as a seam is created. He can access so many avenues with the puck thanks to his quick and creative hands, which match his mobility and he so often can find small seams that he can fit dangerous passes through. He also possesses a fantastic shot with velocity that belies his small frame. Defensively, when he is engaged, he can be combative in board battles and ties up sticks. However, the red flags with this play are his inconsistent effort and he can be quite polarizing between his hunger and his indifference for the puck despite his skillset.
